The Challenge
Blue Chilli Health was a growing, full-service health and wellness communications agency with no established visual identity or digital presence.
The agency brought together expertise across strategy, UX, digital, technology, creative, content and health communications. Its challenge was not simply to present these capabilities online, but to communicate a broad and evolving offering in a way that felt clear, cohesive and distinctive.
The website needed to help position Blue Chilli Health as a next-generation healthcare agency, combining innovation and creativity with the clarity, credibility and empathy expected within the health sector, while giving prospective clients a clear understanding of what the agency could offer.
The Brief
The founder provided the core messaging, service information and overall direction for the website.
My brief was to translate that content and positioning into a complete digital experience while establishing the visual direction for the new brand.
This meant creating a visual language across colour, typography, imagery, layouts, motion and interactions, while developing a consistent structure for presenting a broad range of capabilities and service areas.
The goal was to create an experience that felt contemporary, creative and human, while remaining clear and credible enough for a healthcare audience.
My role
I worked across the project from the initial visual exploration through to the final Framer build.
My responsibilities included:
UX/UI design
Visual identity and art direction
Information and content presentation
Design system and reusable components
Responsive design
Image selection and art direction
Video creation and editing
Motion and animation
Interaction design
Framer development
End-to-end implementation
I worked directly with the founder and team throughout the project, using regular feedback and review sessions to validate the visual direction, refine content hierarchy and adapt the experience as the business evolved.
Design approach
01 — Establishing the visual direction
The project started without an established visual identity, so one of the first challenges was defining how Blue Chilli Health should look and feel.
The brand positioned itself as a next-generation health and wellness agency built around innovation, empathy and people-centred solutions. The visual identity therefore needed to feel more contemporary and expressive than a conventional healthcare brand, while still communicating trust and credibility.
The founder had some initial ideas around colour, which I used as a starting point. I explored multiple colour directions and presented different options before we refined and selected the final palette together.
From there, I extended the visual direction across typography, imagery, layouts, animation and interaction design to create a consistent visual language across the website.
The key design challenge was balancing distinctiveness with credibility — creating a brand that could stand out within healthcare without sacrificing the clarity and trust expected by its audience.
02 — Turning a broad offering into a clear experience
Blue Chilli Health brought together expertise across strategy, customer experience, digital transformation, UX, creative, content, technology and health communications.
With such a broad offering, one of the challenges was communicating the breadth of the agency without making the website feel overwhelming or fragmented.
The founder owned the core messaging and content for each service area. My role was to translate that information into a clear and consistent digital structure, creating a visual and content hierarchy that allowed users to understand the different capabilities while still seeing how they connected as one offering.
I developed a consistent visual and structural approach across the service pages, allowing each area to communicate its own content while remaining part of the wider experience.
This created a scalable structure that could accommodate additional services and evolving content without requiring the experience to be redesigned from scratch.
03 — Designing around evolving content
The content and messaging continued to evolve throughout the project.
As the positioning developed, changes to copy could affect hierarchy, spacing, layouts, imagery and the emphasis given to different sections. Rather than treating content and design as separate stages, I worked iteratively with the team and adapted the experience as the messaging developed.
This created an important design constraint: the system needed to remain flexible while still feeling intentional and consistent.
I used flexible layouts and reusable components to accommodate these changes, allowing content to evolve without compromising the overall structure of the website.
04 — Bringing the brand to life through motion
The website needed to communicate more than information. It also needed to reflect Blue Chilli Health's focus on innovation, creativity and digital experiences.
I created the motion, animations, video content and interactive elements used throughout the experience.
Motion was used to support storytelling, guide attention and add personality to the interface rather than simply acting as decoration.
This helped translate the new visual identity into a more dynamic digital experience while supporting the brand's positioning as a contemporary, digitally native agency.
From design to production
I designed and built the website end-to-end in Framer, allowing me to maintain a direct connection between design decisions and the final implementation.
Working across both design and development meant I could consider responsive behaviour, component structure, interactions and technical constraints throughout the process rather than treating development as a separate handoff.
I created reusable components and patterns across the site to maintain consistency and make the experience easier to evolve as the agency and its content continued to grow.
This approach also allowed me to evaluate design decisions directly in the final environment and refine them throughout implementation.
Impact
The project gave Blue Chilli Health its first dedicated digital presence and established a visual language for the agency's positioning as a next-generation health and wellness communications business.
The website brought the agency's broad capabilities together into a cohesive digital experience, giving the team a stronger way to communicate its offering and present a more distinctive proposition to prospective clients.
Following the launch, Blue Chilli Health secured new clients and projects. While formal analytics were not available to quantify the website's direct impact, the new platform became an important part of how the agency presented its capabilities to prospective clients.
Most importantly, the project went beyond creating a website. It established a visual and digital foundation that Blue Chilli Health could continue to build on as the business and its offering evolved.
